Melt

“You cannot melt her heart.”

His words were an eternal drumbeat, echoed by my heart as I watched her smile, her blush, her nervous laughter.

“You cannot melt her heart.”

Shadows set in across my face, dancing, clouding, cursed.

She whispered I do and a cavern opened up in my chest.

I could not melt her heart.

But he could.
