Somedays,
You get out of bed, and everything
goes wrong.
Somedays,
Your hair won’t behave itself,
Stretching out, stroking passers-by
And you have to ignore them
And pretend
That you’re normal, business-woman beige.
Written for this weekend’s Trifextra Writing Challenge, to use a colour in a 33 word piece. As well as for one of Terry Whidborne’s Sunday Sketches “Sunday Sketch 39.” Comments and criticism always welcome!
Your paint vividly even in beige. Perfect color choice.
Thanks LaTonya!
This is perhaps the best argument for cutting my hair short.
Ha! It wasn’t intended that way!
Beige is so blah. Embrace the crazy hair girl. Lol. Love this. Fun and very creative.
Beige is blah, indeed!
This happened to me just the other day π Chris, wonderful to read the word beige when you’ve written a piece about a woman who is anything but. Excellent.
Glad you liked it, Jo-Anne, I thought beige made it a little different, especially as I thought no-one would be writing about beige.
‘Businesswoman beige.’ Perfectly bland. Love it.
Thanks!
I love this! Tagging beige at the end, leaves your subject with her dignity in tact π and buttons it all up for the reader quite nicely.
Thanks, Angie!
I was waiting for the color. It works well right at the end! Thank you for linking up! Please remember to return for the voting!
I thought right at the end would be best. And I voted!
My hair was like this for over twenty years…
And then I cut it.
And magically it isn’t like that anymore!
The magic of a barber’s shears!
Oh, the pretending to be normal and beige, it can be so hard some times… I really like this, Chris.
Glad you liked it Lena! It’s always hard pretending to be beige when the world is so technicolour.
Ha! Outed from her “business-woman beige” camouflage by her wild hair. Love it! Why do so many of us struggle so hard to embrace the normal?
Thanks Kallanannie! Never be beige!
Love it! I’ve had hair like that all my life.
My hair just grows into an afro…but my beard is wild and wooly!
Wonderful picture and anything but beige. Enjoyed this! π
Yeah, he’s very talented. And you’re right, anything but beige.
Love it! And I’m tired of business woman beige. Time for a change :).
CHANGE!
Business woman beige is boring. Maybe she can just get a hair clip? π
No more beige, no more beige!
ADORED THIS ONE CHRIS!!! SO TRUE!!! I loved how the crazy hair sounds like the unique and true person xxx
