Alien Invasion by Chris Rallis

“Alright…it’s true. They saw us. It was a reconnaissance mission – Sol 3.

We’d seen the reports. Potential intelligence. Ancestor worship, stone tools, ceremonial burial.

We knew the protocols. It was an accident.”

A 33 word confession written for the Trifecta Writing Challenge.

I figured some people mightn’t be into The River of Crawling Death, so I thought I’d better

write some other stories too…

  1. Short, sweet, to the point and perfect.

you – you mean it’s TRUE??? We AREN’T alone?
    🙂 nice take.

  3. Draug419 says:

Makes you wonder what would have happened without the accident…

  4. So have all the subsequent “sightings” been accidents too? Or curious ET’s? Imaginative take on the prompt.

    • I’ll be back for the voting! I think probably the best description of UFOs would have to be in Hitchhiker’s Guide:

“Teasers are usually rich kids with nothing to do. They cruise around looking for planets that haven’t made interstellar contact yet and buzz them, meaning that they find some isolated spot with very few people around, then land right by some poor unsuspecting soul whom no one’s going to believe and then strut up and down in front of him wearing silly antennas on their head and making beep beep noises.”

Your style reminds me of my brother’s, (that’s a good thing).

  6. jannatwrites says:

Hmm…I wonder if it was an accident…

  7. Mike says:

It makes you wonder how many ‘accidents’ are taking place out there.
A great take on the prompt.

  8. does make one wonder. perhaps prometheus was really an alien.

Nice to see a different genre. (RogRites).

    • Aaaarrggh! I can’t decide if you’re being sarcastic (because I always write speculative fiction) or genuine (because most Trifecta entries seem to be literary fiction.) I’ll take it as a compliment. Thanks!
