The Rule of Threes

They say bad things happen in threes.

Riots, revolutions, suicides.

Bad things happen in threes, and they announce this fact with nervous smiles.

As though they were apologising for the laws of nature.

Just a little 33 word piece for Trifecta’s Weekend Challenge, to use the Rule of Three and make it central to the story. I think I managed that. I also managed to squeeze in on of this week’s BeKindRewrite prompts: Nervous Smile. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!
